Mission

Re-inventing how singles meet, match, and connect.

Why I built this.

Every new venture needs clarity of purpose. A reason for existing. Without it, failure is almost guaranteed. I know this from experience. I've had more than my share of failure in Silicon Valley.

But Meet Before You Swipe® wasn't born as a startup idea. Or to chase a market opportunity. Or a grand vision to change the world. I built it to solve my own problem.

I despised dating apps—and the person they were turning me into.

The endless swiping. The guessing. The ghosting. The games. The fake profiles. The hours wasted.

Every cycle was the same: hope, excitement, messaging, anticipation… and then disappointment. I deleted dating apps completely several times, each time promising myself I would never use them again. And each time I came back. Like an addict.

One evening after a particularly awful experience—I didn't even recognize the woman I was meeting because her photos were so outdated—I was done with the apps.

Later that week I vented to a friend. "I wish someone would invent a way to meet someone first—before deciding to hit the 'Like' button." The moment I said it, something clicked.

The era of the swipe is over. Everyone who's single knows that intuitively. The problem is that dating apps lack a clear, compelling alternative.
  • IRL singles events are everywhere. But just about anyone can show up. What's missing is curation, and a way to bring together like-minded people based on shared values, lifestyle, and dating intentions.
  • Speed dating forces awkward three-minute conversations with people you already know aren't right for you. A bell rings, you rotate, you smile politely, and repeat the process. Feels like an interview, not a conversation.
  • Singles meetups throw a random group of strangers into a room and hope for the best. No shared values. No intentional design. And too often you leave feeling more alone than when you arrived.
  • Traditional matchmaking works for a few, but it's expensive and out of reach for most people.

For me, and almost everyone I knew, none of these alternatives were compelling options.

I knew exactly what I wanted. An experience where you walk into a room and instantly feel: "These are my people."

Events designed intentionally, where the guest list is vetted, and everyone belongs to a shared community with common values, lifestyle, and dating intentions.

And instead of speed dating, you meet naturally. Like you would at a dinner party. And if you and someone else both feel that spark—you can hit the "like" button (privately) after meeting. If it's mutual, you match and connect.

No swiping. No speed dating. No dating app games.

The way singles meet, match, and connect needs to be fundamentally re-designed. We're more connected than ever. Yet lonelier than ever.

It's time to move beyond the swipe, the speed date, and the singles meetup. It's time for an entirely new approach.

That's why I built this.
